Become an Urban Guru.

This is what it is all about. Your chance to show everyone that you take responsibility for your place in the world, the master of your empire. It is a quiet confidence. A sneaky wink. A well wicked secret that you know and understand.

Challenge your self and the environment you are in. Excel at all that you do by being focused, dedicated and precise. Inspire those that follow your journey. Its never easy but that’s what makes it a journey worth taking and not an aimless walk around the block.

We are not about just banging out our brand onto shirts because it looks cool, even if we think that it does (and hope you agree enough to wear one). All of our designs have a message. A conversation. Think of it as a conversation starter, whether it is with yourself or with those that ask. "Mint shirt - what does it mean?" is a much better starter than the one that goes "cool t-shirt - where did you get it?". This is a key reason behind what this website is about. Each design has it's own story. Something to identify with. A purpose.

Even our logo has a meaning, its not just a random scribble, or our name written all cool, it has a history, a purpose.

What is it to be a Guru. Traditionally it is one that has intention, and thinks through their actions. The guru is one who is regarded as having great knowledge, wisdom and authority, and who uses it to guide others, more by their actions than by their desires. We can all be our own gurus. We can all be inspirational people. The Urban Guru is just that. Streetwise. Edgy. Individual. A natural leader and one that does not follow the flock just for the sake of fitting in.

Urban Guru LogoThe Urban Guru Brand.

Our logo is based on the traditional Japanese design of the Mitsudomoe.
Some say that the mitsudomoe represents the unity between man, earth and the heavens. It is also said to be associated with the Shinto deity Hachiman, the ultimate divine protector and god of war. It was adopted as the symbol of the Japanese samurai.
We live in an urban jungle so we thought it an appropriate fit. The way of the samurai is the pathway of honour, something we aspire to including in every aspect of this business.

The punctuation mark's in the heart of each of the tomoe are representative of what the  punctuation mark's are used for in every day expression and communiction - to illustrate a point, an emphasis or a pause to take a breath. Together these symbols combine to accurately reflect the principles we stand for.
